Biography
Owner Ryan Swayne founded the business in 2016, right around the time he was finishing up college. Swayne graduated from Fort Hays State University with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in 2016.
While at FHSU, Swayne spent five weeks studying abroad at SIAS International University in the School of Chinese Language and Culture in ZhengZhou, Hunan, China in the summer of 2014.
Swayne was a local high school and middle school art teacher for nearly 10 years, before leaving teaching to pursue managing Swayne Studios full-time.
He has worked with both hand-built and wheel-thrown forms, as well as blacksmithing and jewelry. Swayne has participated in many workshops taught by professional artists, such as: Julia Galloway, John Britt, Shawn Spangler, Beth Cavener, Roberto Lugo, Alleghaney Meadows, Linda Swanson, Melanie Sherman and more.
Swayne's goal in life is to get as much art into other people's homes as possible, so that they can live with handmade, original artwork. Each piece of artwork or photo taken, captures a little bit of the artist's soul.
